A nice attempt Don,

but the light and shadows do not work and it looks like she is looking into the sun thereby causing her to squint. You should turn her to where the sun is at her back and light her with a fill flash or reflector. The sun will give her a glow in her hair like a back light. And the best time to shoot bikini outside is early in the morning or late in the evening when the sun is not high.

Nice effect, I like that effect. The only thing I'd do is brighten up the mid-tones just a bit...not much. Highlights are fine. Do more, attempt more...

Reflector time Don, reflector time, a nice gold reflector I says and a dash of some white balancing.

As it stands, I don't have any swimwear pics,.... but, there is a pool, and this way the swimsuit never clashes...

..time for me to call every photographer I know in the florida area,...

Thanks Jason....I was playing with the combination of light and shadow..and your right I should have used a reflector....this was my first time of taking my new camera..into the water with me.....I was a bit skiddish on doing it in the first place!! yikes!!! my hands where so tightly hanging on to the camera..I didnt have extra hands for a reflector..but I did try to bounce reflect some light off my head!!!...I think thats why she is squinting!! I know its not a great shot.....but with advice from everyone on GG..maybe just maybe..I'll learn how to take better bikini images!!
Don. P.S. that image of yours blows me away everytime I see it.!

From what I can see the bikini is an attractive style and it probably flatters her figure, but it is rather dark in the shadows and difficult to see that for certain. You already have good advice from Jimmyd and you are aware of the shot yourself. #1. Back to the sun and fill flash or a reflector. #2. Put her in the shade and aim light into the shade. #3. Low sun and directed at her from a slight angle to avoid squinting.

Shade tree and light from a gold reflector.

This is obviously an available-light shot!

I am limited to this mode, and am learning to deal with shadows and highlights.

This effect is a nice alternative to the filled-in, "warm" look. Sometimes we get lucky, other times a shot is severely compromised.

Photoshop shadow/highlight, dodge tool, and burn tool can help a bit after the fact.

A favorite available-light shot. Early evening (7:00 PM) sun is at my back; partly cloudy):
