Just shot this of Shawna a couple hours ago. I like the feckles...she doesn't. What do you all think? Natural or plastic her?

Thanks, Doug

Don't go plastic. It will detract from her beauty. But do blend the dark areas of your background.

Doug, Sorry she doesn't like freckles ... I do. If she really looks like that, the only thing I'd do is to tone down the yellows, and that could be my monitor. She's got a great face, don't ever go plastic ... please!

Is make a new layer and do a dust and scratches at what ever setting blends the freckles in. I practiced on your image which is not the quality of the original but found I had to go as high as 30 pixels to do the job. Then I would create a reveal (black) mask and paint in only the areas that need it. Even this might be too much for you. If so I would add noise to the blurred layer to give a bit of character then I would sit down with the girl and show her the before and after image then slowly reduce the opacity of the blurred image until both of you can reach an agreement. I agree with you that the freckles apart of her charm but if she can't cover them with cosmetics she needs to be prepared to see some since post work is expensive, especially if there is a lot of it.

Too many beginning models, MUA's and photographers are unaware of the impact studio strobes have on makeup. They assume if It looks good in the mirror is should be enough. It ain't! If it isn't put on thick enough the strobes blast right on through lighting everything below. Zits, bags, scars, and yes freckles require a good heavy concealer before the base ever hits the face.

Nope...the freckles work... Would like to see the eyes a little sharper though.

Thanks Scott. They are sharper on the final version. I lost some in knocking it down for the web and compressing it.

Thanks for trying and the directions. Actually, I think I convinced her to go "natural". I have shot her several times before and used a MUA. This is her without make-up (except eyes). This was kinda improptu. Thanks again.
