I've gotten good comments on this image so far, but there is one thing that I wonder if I should fix or not, and looking for comments on it. If you look at her right leg, there are some patches of lights mid thigh and right at the top of her boots. I go back and forth about fixing them in PS. In one way, they add some interest. In another, it appears like a distraction. What do you think?

P.S. I do know about the light on her jaw, and that is planned to be surgically removed already.

The way I see it is you added the strong contrasty lighting for some drama to the image, and if thats what you intended then I'd leave the highlights both on the leg and jaw. Taking them away softens the look of the image and I'm not convinced that would be a good thing. Next time I shot an image like this I would do a similar thing but might just be a bit more careful where specular highlights such as these fell. I'd still have them fall aon the leg but maybe a little closser to the top of the leg and not on boot top. good shot by the way

If this were my image I'd lose the highlight on her right leg. I'd leave everything else. That highlight serves no purpose other than to draw the eye.

Very nice image though. This is the kind of thing I'd like to be doing if I could find the right model.

SO far, 1 for 1. Thats exactly why I have a hard time deciding to leave it or remove it. It would be nice to be able to control it at the time of exposure, but unless I pose her and tell her not to move, its gonna happen while she is moving and doing her thing. I think I'm going to remove the one on her thigh and leave the rest. Thats really the only one that bothers me. The rest are nitpicks to me.

Well, when I run my eyes from the top of the image to the bottom, that one highlight catches my eye. I really think if you lose just the one on the mid-thigh it would help the image a lot.

Fix it, then come back and look at it again later. It's easy to get "too connected" with an image and only see things that you've been working on. Take a break and come back to it when the memories of the details have faded a bit.

I find this kind of discusson interesting. The light on the LEG is an integral part of the image. Wipe out the stray highlights and you start to take interesting details away. I love to see images which distract me and cause me to see different things depending on how I look at them.

However rather than be in a quandry I make many copies of my image and then choose the one that suits my needs at the time. Sometiems I need a perfect No stay light image - and othertimes i want one with the lights so why not make TWO

Stephen:

I would reduce the intensity of all four highlights from her thigh to her ankle but not eliminate them completely. Gus had it right. Make two or three.

Very moody image. I like it a lot.

How about making the alterations that you want to do with the image and let us see your results to compare with? I like the shot as it is but perhaps your Photoshop will show something improved.

Here is a B&W version I did with the specular highlights removed them the leg. I know its hard to judge between the two since there are more variables with the color removed. But I don't have time to redit the color version tonight.

The light on her jaw doesn't bother me, at least at this scale.

The light on the edge of her right boot doesn't bother me.

The light on her upper right thigh bothers me.

That is all.
