This young lady wants to try modeling but says she is not pretty enough.
Does anyone have any words that will convience her that looks are not everything. I have done a shoot with her and she still has a lot to learn but I beleive that she has potential.
Thanks

I think she's very cute. And from what I could see, has a good body. If it helps I'd be glad to shoot her. I live near St. Cloud.....unfortunatly, St. Cloud Missouri.

If you want to ammaze her with just how well she can look in modeling type of pictures, take her to an MUA and get her hair done to look really good with a new style or make over of some kind and then shoot some quality shots of her so that she can see for herself. She is cute but these other things can make a big difference.

I agree with you. She appears to have potential. Pretty enough? What's that? Tell her that looks are only a part of the mix. There's makeup, lighting, etc. But most important is attitude and how you convey it to the camera. Even the most beautiful (whatever that is) model can look terrible if she doesn't project from within herself.

Well, looks are at least close to everything, and she's doing just fine on that score. Most women I know think of one woman that they think is "beautiful", and if they don't look like that, they don't feel like they're beautiful. Just remember, as my wife exclaimed in astonishment after watching me playing in photoshop, "Oh my God, it's all lies!"

The subject has potential, but the photo's composition and presentation leave something to be desired. The frame is somewhat overwhelming to the photo and adds a distracting element. The way her head is positioned causes an unsightly wrinke in the neck area. The general rule on cropping is to crop above the joint, not below it as you have with the arm on the right. The little bit of her kneee left in the left foreground is distracting because it is brighter than her face and draws the eye there. Recropping might help here.

Cheers,
rfs

The lighting is not presenting her face to best advantage. Flat light makes her face look round. Simple loop lighting from the short side and a turn of the face to 2/3 view would help. Also she looks "crunched" in this pose. It seems awkward.
