I took this image today during a shoot. Balanced studio strobe against overcast sky, added a warming gel on the strobe so I could adjust white balance to add more blue to the sky. Lightened up a shadow across her right cheek. Did my standard post processing to smooth skin, sharpen eyes, etc. Personally, I like the fact she is not making eye contact with me(us).

Here is another image from the same shoot. I really like the yellow and blue set against the warm wood. Cropped image, shaped her nose a little, and standard post processing only.

Stephen,

I don't know, man.. she still looks pretty cyanotic to me, here, compared to the second image. Something about the off-tilt and her lack of eye contact makes me think the listing to the right is an effort to help her regain her balance. Sorry.. first one just doesn't work for me. But, then, I'm predisposed to the direct look...

Now, that second image... since the off-tilt is so subdued as to be hardly noticeable, it doesn't overwhelm me.. comfortable pose, relaxed expression.. ya got a winner, here.

Wayne, I have noticed over time that people tend to find the 'forward' lean chaotic, disturbing, or unnatural. However, its almost always accepted when there is a 'backward' lean, or dutch tilt to the left. I guess I should save the dutch tilt to the right for the images I intentionally want unnerving!

I also prefer the second image. Actually, I prefer another version that I didn't post earlier (below). It also fits your preference for direct contact even better IMO, and there is no tilt at all.

Thanks for taking time to comment.
