My favorite variety of image, and a great line caught by the light. BUT... What's the visual logic underlying the huge swath of black to the left? It just looks pasted onto a black background as it sits, to me. Less black would look less obvious, maybe? Eh, what do I know?

i think this image works with her in the left third of the frame, staring off into a dark void.

in fact, i think there's a bunch of different ways you can play with this image.

Well, you did break a few rules. The composition flies in the face of convenional ideas, and you blew out the highlights and blocked up the shadows. This is considered a "bastard" view of the face. An old mentor taught me, if you are going to break a rule, break it by a lot instead of a little so it doesn't look like a mistake. Do all these things pull us into the image? Do they help make a statement? It's a subjective thing. I rather like the image. I'd rather see this than a static pose with flat light, which I see a lot of here. If you want an opinion on this, I like that you are showing only a sliver of the mask of the face, I might have tried a little higher camera angle to emphasize the eye and I might have pulled the hair back slightly so that it does not intersect the lips. That's all the blasting I can do! Best regards.
