Christine is the 19 year old daughter of a long time friend. She is interested in modeling and so I have introduced her to this site. We worked together once before almost a year ago when I first started collecting what little gear I have. I have been waiting for an opportunity to shoot her again and it came last night. She did her own makeup and is very comfortable in front of the camera. We shot for three hours and had a lot of fun. Any suggestions on how I can improve would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Rick

Very nice image. If you had a different color (like light purple, or light blue) background, it would have been much better - I think.

Or maybe a colored gel on a strobe to get some complementary (sp) colors to the red, like blue...would really make this image POP. Beautiful model, tell her to keep it up.

GoodMorning DBA1,

I think she looks slightly out of focus. Beautiful model and pose. Overall...Nice image.

Hi Zairia!

Thanks for the comment! It is a little out of focus. I recently bought a 75-300 lens for outdoor use and was switching back and forth with the 18-55. I'm not relly sure if this was the issue or lack of light or just my eye. I shot this one with the 18-55 up close with no tripod and it seems a little better.

Thanks Again!
Rick

Thanks Guy's!

I was using a white seemless backdrop in that shot and it looks grey or tan. I do have a dark red and blue but they seemed too dark. I realized my lighting situation was seriously lacking main light. With just a three piece JTL light kit, I'm going to have to upgrade soon! I actually thought about using a colored gel on a strobe and the JTL will do that. However, I have not yet figured out how to fire the strobe without the on camera flash. My 300D Digital Rebal does not have a sync cord output that I am aware of, and the on camera flash washes everything out and gives me a flat image. I think main light could have produced a much better image. Better save some $$ !

Thanks for the complement about Christine. Stay tuned for more!

beautiful girl. she seems quite relaxed in front of the camera. color seems a bit on the "tungsten" warm side... i.e., a bit yellowy. were you using a light source that's not color balanced?
