Re: Self Critique

Okay #1 lighting if flat..background appears pink..
#2 Colors dont mesh..but damn thats a sexy expression.
#3 Background appears Pinkish again..and the damn scarf is in the way!
#4 Background is MAGENTA! and the hat should be on the floor!
overall the concept didnt work...should have been darker in color creating a gloomier atmosphere... not sure gloomy works for cheesecake However its obvious these didnt work either!

Re: Not so Grieving Widow?

uh that doesnt sound so good!! Even though Rick your work is totally beyond my abilities!! However if its a critique that might insult my better half..I would think I prefer not....We both realize we wont be Glamour Model and Glamour Photog we are both trying to learn the do the best we can with our photography. But Im not refusing any critiques other than personal assaults. not saying thats where you going with this...but just wanted to let you know I realize I'll never be a Robert Sanders and she'll never be on the cover of Vogue...
Don.

Re: Not so Grieving Widow?

Don,

Nah...not a bad thing at all...I just don't make a habit of critiquing anything that involves anyones better half..SO happens that my better half happens to be a MUA and I know that protective instincts come on high gear in those cases. And for that matter she was my original model as well..

Heck I'll never be a Robert Sanders either...

So its up to you...

Re: Not so Grieving Widow?

Rick! Im never one that would turn down learning something especially from someone as talented as yourself....I respect the opinion of my betters! I learn from those that are better than myself...and sometimes from those that are not. so anytime you want to critique my work...do your worst! lol.. if I told you NO..I would be closed minded about learning...not my style!
Thanks Rick! fire away!
Don.P.S. very respectable of you being careful about critiquing images of better halfs!

Re: Not so Grieving Widow?

Allrighty....

You tend to fall into a pattern of shooting from the same angle...looking down at your model. That angle will do a few things it will shorten the model...try changing angles...next time shes standing....get lower and shoot up..this will accent the models height...

Just dont fall into a rut...no model no matter who they are are perfect...they all have what could be consider faults....our jobs is to lean how to minimize them thru our shooting...

Models know this as well as we do...most of the time they know what works and what doesnt....if they dont...we have to help them along...

SO I guess my critique would be stopping falling into a rut...change it up...
