This is an image that I took with a 35mm. It is just scanned in and I haven't messed with it. It took me 4 hours to convince him to pose for me. What do you think?

... you should have begged for ten more minutes and gotten him to either take his shirt *off,* or at least put on a clean one.

That could just be a shadow... just teasing. He looks like a handsome enough fellow, in my fairly noninterested opinion, if that's what you mean.

Too blured, too much grain, cropped in an uncomprehensible way, a distracting white triangle in the upper right corner....

Is that what a man is to you ? A body ? (<- that last sentence is an attempt of humour)

grainy because of the scanner. But I know it is cropped bad and I hadn't noticed the triangle, Thanks for the input.

Soo much more than a body.......a dishwasher, babysitter, driver, and personal valet....I mean, my husband

The pose is feminine. He has his head tilted toward the shoulder putting him in a curve. Masculine poses start with the head perpendicular to the shoulders. Flowers on the couch are subdued by placing them in bw, but still distracting. You might concentrate on taking images step by step. Get a basic pose. Then decide how to light it, The refine the details. Don't be discouraged by criticism. We are just trying to help you.

I am not discouraged. If I did not want criticism, I would not post here. I am at a disadvantage due to an uncoperative model (husband) and avaiable light. I have purchased some second hand lighting and have started working with a new model, Keturah Saint, I hope to post more when I have something that I like. Windowlight will work fine until you get up and running with the studio lights. Also, great reflectors can be made from insulation sheeting available at Home Depot. Best regards.

I have actually found that the windshield reflectores that are silver on one side and gold on the other work great, especially with natural light.

(an example from S. Padre Island)
