Here is another new one... This is just an experiment that I was trying out... No, there is no photoshop involved... Was shot on digi and the only lighting source was one florescent black light... Not exactly the effect I was going for, but I like it anyway [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img] Comments welcome...

so how big was the BL tube? what was your iso, shutter, aperture?

Thanks for the nice comments [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img] The photo was shot on digi with a Canon 10D. I used one lighting source - an 18 inch florescent black light. Sorry, but I am usually not one that takes tech notes on how I shoot - just makes it more intresting the next time I try to recreate it - LOL [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]... A florescent BL does not put out whole lot of light, so I shot it as various ASA's - 400, 800 & 1600... I believe that this pic was shot at 1600. F/stop would have been pretty much wide open and not a clue as to what shutter speed this particular pic was shot at... I tried various speeds on this shoot... [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img] I do like this shot, it was a lot of fun to do and I would love to see what others can do with this type of lighting situation [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

A little dark (maybe my screen)? But I really like it! It's almost like the lack of a bit more light adds to the the whole apeal. Very intriguing.

I like it. The bubbles are cool idea. I wonder if the interference patterns fluoresce and if they do, could you get an image of it..

I've been thinking about the blacklight thing a lot myself lately. Here is one from the first attempt, more to come once I figure out the post processing; another shoot tonight hopefully...


For St. JimmyD... D1X, 60mm Micro, 1/30 @ f4, ISO 400
(2) 48" blacklight tubes overhead bouncing from a white reflector, (2) 48" blacklight tubes standing vertically to camera left, large white reflector to camera right, chromakey blue background.
Model is Bethanna, soulmate and sole glamour model.

I missed this one at first. It looks like the interference patterns DO fluoresce and you DID get them on the image... super cool.

The eyelash patternis a nice touch too.

There is at least 1 company that sells UV reactive bubbles; both blueish and gold and they work well. the down side is that when they burst you'll have little UV reactive splotches on the floor, model, props, etc (we used them for a community haunted house).

for those that are thinking about other UV reactive stuff; try tonic water (greenish) or for bright-bluish anything washed with whitener...
