From yesterdays photo shoot with Krystal. Makeup by the model. Only levels, very minimal cloning, and slight sharpening were done to these. No skin smoothing, no eye or teeth whitening. Comments welcome.

Nicely done Jim...but better than our park excursion....I blew it... for the life of me couldnt get a proper camera setting, however we were taking them in the middle of the day in full sun....shooting in the shade using a reflector most of the shots... do you use your manual settings and a meter?
unfortunatley I dont own an ambient meter so I was experimenting with using Shutter Priority and Aperture priority on the camera...most were over exposed.
Good Job Jim!!
Don.

Excellent work. The only thing that bothers me is in the second one, there are too many things behind her head. The old "telephone pole comming out of her head" thing, but the poses, color, lighting, and all other technical and artistic elements are great.

Hi Don. We were sort of fighting the elements on our shoot also. Once the sun got higher in the sky at about 11:00 we were getting strong shadows under her chin, nose and eyes, so I opted to delete several of those and turn her around away from the sun and used a 4'x4' silver reflector to put light back onto her while creating the back lighting (rim lighting) effect round her head and arms.
I tried using both manual mode from the camera meter and aperature priorty mode and found myself deleting the bad ones as we worked on getting the right shots in.
On the shot of your wife, the first thing that I noticed is the different skin tone from your studio shots of her. Not pink. From the look of this shot that you have here, it would appear that the sun was high and directly towards her except for her being in the shade, which would have made a reflector difficult to use with that light angle. Without me being there, I don't know if you had a way to turn her with the sun at her back or not, or if you would have been able to get yourself or an assistant at a different angle to use a reflector to put light back into the shot. Good to see you getting outside for some natural settings though. It's still a good shot of her.
Thanks for your comments.

Thanks Isaiah. Yeah, plenty of playground equipment throughout the park to shoot around, which also came in handy as props for some of the shots. We managed to get her on the swing and slide for a few of them.

Thanks Jim..actually the Sun was High and over her right shoulder as you see the Bright Rocks behind her right...it was an arched bridge so I used a gold reflector to bounce light in the shade...I think I hit her too full force with the reflector....it was a brand new one....so it was mighty reflective..I think thats what washed her out..between that and the camera settings being wrong.
Thanks Again Jim...it was fun to get outside this weekend beautiful out, too bad we didnt get outta bed early

Hi Don,

Yesterday Cin and I were shooting outside and it was my first time. I ended up deleting one whole batch from a 512CF card. Here's a picture of the second batch. I only cropped the photo. No photoshop involved. (Not much better ) What do you think?

Hi hon,
I don't like the first pic. It makes her look very heavy.
I love the second picture. It shows how pretty she really is.

Marty
