I'd like to hear some thoughts on these head shots - personal or technical nits... I know this crew can come up with some

suffer from squintitis, a common occurance when using reflector. The cure is to tell the model to be aware of the problem and to not shine the reflector until the last second. Or better yet is not to use such a hot relector.

I like the expressions in the first two, but the fly away hair is distracting.

The hair is better in the last one, but it seems a little over exposed.

You have the right idea...

But...for the outside shots, I would get that reflector up higher. I usually go no lower than the nose when the reflector is used as your "main" light for a traditional type of portraits. It is a more logical light source. It looks like it is propped and sitting on the ground which could work for fill but not when it is the brighest light source. I also try to put the reflector on the other side of the model than from the side where the light is coming from.

It looks like you had enough light to use a a larger soft white refector which would have gave you a nicer softer light and less eye squint. Buy some white foam-core and cut it in the biggest sizes you can store and transport - it makes a great stabile flat reflector.
