#1-- Kinda weird cropping. Kinda flat. Angles is not flattering.

#2-- Could'a been a very good shot but i think you needed to be lower and the framing needed to be wider. also, if she's gonnna be on the ground, try and find a place where she can get down without having to put a piece of plywood or whatever that is under her.

#3-- Beware of "models romantically linked to trees" shots.

I do like the pose on the second one alot!! Some things I noticed that may help:

Be sure the model's make-up is applied lighter, think day make-up. Out side light can be unforgiving and really intensify the prominace of eyeliner, blush and lipstick. Keep it soft and natural as possible and blend, blend, blend!!

It appears that the light is causeing her to squint. Have her close her eyes, relax forhead, and open on your count of three. May take a few trys to get it down, but it really helps with out door light.

Watch the wind. It can be used to your advantage, but be sure it is hitting her hair in a non destructive way. In the last shot, it causeing her style of bangs to fall apart.

I think the lighting was great, choice of attire wonderfull. Keep up the great work you two!!!

Thank You Alicia Rachel, the wind was horrible around 20 miles an hour. I knew I would have trouble with that. I'll take the make up tip at heart and tone it down when doing the day shots.

Different crop....exposing the "PLYWOOD" Jimmy she might have got her bum bum wet....had she not been sitting on the pedestal.... With that point..your Importance of a proper crop makes sense not to make something look like it isnt...thats for sure...Well taken Sir! thank you!! I hated the cinder blocks in the water....so I my crop attempt was to get rid of those...but it wasnt for the better...

Outdoor shots can be fun. Couple things from me. The biggest being the eyes squinting. Someone already said to have her close her eyes and relax. The you count to 3 and she opens her eyes and you snap the shutter. Really does work well. The other issue, and I fight this all the time with my redhead. The both have very prominent cheek bones.(which I love by the way) but you have to watch the shadows getting in there and making the lines stand out. On out door shots think of your reflector as your american express card...Dont leave home without it. Here is a shot I did yesterday in my first shoot with the 20D of my wife Dee. This is straight out of the camera, resized and a very slight level adj.

Keep shooting that woman of yours. The shots are getting better and better.

Scott

Uh oh, I better get busy and do some editing this morning so I can get more posted.

I like the first one except the expression on her face.

I really like the second one. (I mentioned the shirt thing before.)

and I really, really like the 3rd one. What Alicia doesn't like about it is what makes the shot to me. I love the wind in the hair. Great expression, nice pose.
