I'm think I'm going to do far more B&W. The shot was done with a Nikon D100 and a AF 60mm Micro-Nikkor f/2.8D. The camera was set to 1/125 second and f/5.6. A single white umbrella was used about 4 feet away.

This was converted in PS to B&W. I added a little gradient to the sides to help frame Kiki, and played with levels and curves (although I don't know what I'm doing). Please tell me your thoughts, comments, and critiques.

Oh, and since I have no training in photography, if you use a fancy technical term please elaborate.

Nice work Alan, don't look for to much advice, it may only mess you up. Just keep doing what you're doing!

I think it looks pretty good to me. You have black blacks, and bright whites, and a good middle tone.

Cinnamon
(But I must say, especailly since I just heard this about 10 times on one of mine lately, the ankle braclet must go.)

Thanks for the help. I think you're right, the ankle bracelet needs to go. Would the ankle bracelet be acceptable if she had high heels on?

I like the tones of the B&W. Focus and lighting is very nice. Interesting crop.... I think it could be a little better if it were different but that's minor. I think that the line in the wall behind her leg is pretty destracting. That may could be cleaned up but you should definitely look for those type things when shooting.

Thanks for the help. I was trying to hide the corner with her legs, but she had moved slightly and I didn't notice it. The crop is tight on the left to eliminate more of the window that is there.
