Hey everyone, Steve had mentioned that my pics seemed to have a pinkish or magenta tint to them...I applied a slight warming filter on this one in post. Please tell me if it looks pinkish like steve mentioned..if so maybe I need to work with my White Balance? My Camera has several white balance settings including "Sunny" and "Shady" Two floresent settings, one Tungsten,an incandescent and two Custom white balance settings...not sure how to use the custom settings...if anyone would care to divulge me. I'd sure appreciate it.
Don.

Hard for me to tell with a red background. The skin tones look in the range of skin tones.

One thing I spent a lot of time doing to fix WB from my last shoot was to use the Color Sampler tool (under the eye dropper) in PS. Find a grey area on the picture and click there with this tool. Now in the Info panel there will be a new RGB value. This is the value at that point.

They should all be the same if it is grey. If they aren't, open levels, go to the Red channel. Adjust till it equals the green. Then go to the blue and adjust till it equals the green. Now you should have a accurate color balance. You should really make them equal which ever channel's value is the in middle, not always green.

Doing it this way also means I don't have to trust my monitor.

Of course everything works much better if you shoot a true 18% grey card under the lights first. But if you are going to do that, you can just make a custom WB from the card.

I can tell you how to do custom WB on my Nikon, but I'm not sure you're a Nikon guy.

The red hair and the red lingerie gives this an automatic tint...
there is a red tint to the photo but it is warm and nice on her skin.

How does this version look to you. Hope you don't mind my photoshop edit to your picture with your copyright name added. Just did a custom color balance to it, small amount of difuse glow and sharpen sligtly.

for custom white balance, you shoot a white or 18% grey card, properly exposed, under your lights and let the camera custom white balance to that. you can also use warming cards (they're slightly bluish) to set a custom white balance that's a bit warmer.

Don:

When I use strobes I set my white balance to cloudy day and it gives me warmer skin tones. Give it a try.

Jim...that tone looks much more bronze...not quite her skin tone..but is a nice look....close though....her tone seems to be right between your photo and my photo.mmmm I'll have to try shooting a gray card for balance..see if that doesnt help.......nice job Jim.

The edited version looks perfect to me...not that I'm some authority. The skin tone looks much more natural to me (on both my monitors) now.
