These two images were shot sequentially: the only cropping was in-camera framing. (In other words, this is the frame as it came out of the camera: I did not crop the second image after downloading it.)

Only a few inches difference... but to me the pictures are just worlds apart. Or that could just be me.

Nice composition, beautiful model - but the images look a little flat to me. I suspect it's the conversion from color to b/w, rather than an actual issue with the luminosity curve - i.e., that some of the dissimilar colors converted into similar grays.

Your point about crop is well made, though. Very different feel to the two images. Nice work, Mark.

Thank you. These images were created using "Save for Web," which does tend to make pictures look a little flat for reasons which have been hashed and rehashed. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] They're simply preview images created as part of a batch. The actual images are much richer.
