If you ask me (which I quess in a way you did) I think it depends on what your trying to say/do with the pictures. If your going for a figure study, I think the lighting is good, although you could punch up the blacks a little. I would also turn the model's head either into the light more or crop her head out completely.
If your going more for a portrait look, you need to bring more light to the model's face.

Please keep in mind I've never photographed a model like this (although I hope to one day) so feel free to disregard this as others such as JT, JimmyD or the other more knowledgeable photographers give their opinions.

I would never disregard anyones opinions whether professionals or not, everyone has a different eye for whats they like...gathering thoughts is all part of developing a style, Im still working on that...so I appreciate your comments and anyone else who has them. Thank you so much for taking the time to look them over..they were my first attempt and I know I need to study compostion alot more than I have...I just take what looks good to me, no rules or laws yet. well except I do attempt the law of the thirds now and then.
Thanks again!! Don!!

you can follow the rules and laws and become a very competent photographer.

or...

you can just shoot what looks good to you and, depending on how others perceive what looks good to you, you'll be regarded as a truly exceptinoal and unique photographer or considered a lousy one.

or...

you can learn the rules and laws. shoot the rules and laws. and then shoot what looks good to you while deciding when, which, and how to use and/or apply those rules and laws.

Don:

One of the secrets to low key is contrast. Don't be afraid to pump up the lights to high light the important sections of your images. You can still achieve low key with powerful lights.

Well Ricky, I...uh...Fred told me that...I mean...like this Ricky:

The images you've shown are dark but lack the contrast needed to make them look truely low key rather than underexposed.

Try this in Photoshop.
#1. Adjust you levels to this: 10 / 0.75 / 235
Then your Contrast to: +10
or
#2 Adjust your Brightness to: -15
Adjust your Contrast to: +30

See the difference. Your blacks are richer, the whites pop a little more and your gray tones aren't as flat.

BTW...Ethel is looooking goood.

You're welcome Ethel. Tell Ricky that if he's ever in the Kansas City area to drop by for a meet and greet.
