Practical field test at GF laboratories conclude...digrebs don't bounce. The camera fell no more than a foot and a half from my hand to the tile floor and it's dead. kaput. finito. I took it to Dodd and the tech just glared at me. I could see him playing "Taps" with his eyes. He said it's gotta go to Canon, so I'll get the final diagnosis in about 14 days. Externally, you can't see a scratch. Nothing. She even boots up and will let you review images on the CF, but no focus, and it won't shoot. The bounce likely threw the optics out of whack. Would that affect the electronics? All I can say is...$%#&*(%$&(*^%^*(&%$$#*(*^$!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry about the language. I lost control.
Oh well. Two weeks to catch up on my editing. Here's another sample from my Rebel's Last Stand. The lovely Maria.

Hmm...
Have you tried another lens? If you say that it boots up and reviews images, just won't focus or take a picture...that makes me think it may just be the lens. If you have it on auto-focus and the lens can't find the focus, it won't let you snap a pic. It could also be the camera, but it is worth a try.

Try setting the lens to Manual focus or using another lens, and see if you can get the camera to shoot.

i would take it back to the same spot and drop it again...

you know like in the movies where they loose their memory cuz they got knocked in the head... then later they get hit again and it all comes back.

I agree with Jason. Try another lens.

Mine must be the tank version, as many times as I've dropped, kicked, and sat on it. It's my dailey, can't go anywhere with out it camera... I have trashed 4 lenses though.. Funny I get the same "glare" from the shop when I ask if they can be repaired....
