I am new to this site and I want to know what I can do to be better at this whole modeling thing. I want to get images that are print worthy. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Greetings! Welcome to the GG community! I hope you'll enjoy your collaboration here amongst the artists and artists in training! As for your print worthy question, the strongest work you have posted in the portfolio section is your work with ExpressiveImagery, IMHO. Very nicely poised, as opposed to "posed" and evocative. Continue in that way and you'll have photographers beating a path to your door, IMHO.

Welcome!
Look at photographers portfolios in your area and ask them if they do TFP work .... If not, pay them... If you have a couple of great images, it's a lot better than a ton of SOSO images....

well, i don't exactly agree about the 'expressive imagery' shot--its more processing than anything else. even though its tame from a glam perspective, i think the strongest image in her port is the one with the red asian outfit.

p.s. hey joey, i thought they were s'posed to beat our doors down?

you look very "focused" in this image. but you also look confident and relaxed in what you're doing. it's kinda hard to constructively criticize from one image, especially since you're asking about something that has to do with you in a broader sense, rather than the photography.

are you a natural red-head? cuz your skin has more color than many red-heads. (and that's a good thing.)

Yes, I'm a natural redhead, but everyone else in my family is brunette and tans well, so I think my hair color was just a fluke

I don't know that I can help much, but in the spirit of Kelly G's recent post I'll give you the little nugget of suggestion that I can come up with.

The thing that hit me from your portfolio is that from a photographer's perspective, most of the images are very similar. The lighting is just not terribly dramatic, and they all have a similar "mood". This is true for me even though the poses, outfits, and backgrounds differ. I can't quite put my finger on what exactly it is, but it's all very consistent somehow. Maybe it's because they're all studio shots.

To me the image from expressive stands out because it's so different than the others. More dramatic lighting, a little more sultry feeling, although way overprocessed in my opinion.

None of this is your doing, your posing and presense in front of the camera looks great. I'd say maybe work with a few other well-picked photogs. Guys that have work in styles other that what's already in your 'folio. Maybe do some work outside, different settings, different outfits, different makeup. Change things up, stretch your comfort zone. That might mean some experimenting, and sometimes experiments fail horribly. Hopefully it's worth risking taking a step back in order to take 3 or 4 forward. You shouldn't have any trouble finding photog's willing to trade their time with you.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the pics you have. Taken individually there's some very good shots in there. I think you just need more variety in style to wake up your portfolio some.

That's all I got to offer on that. Hope to see more of ya around here.
