Looking for feedback and criticism. I know I need to sharpen it. Crop is 8x10.

Thanks,
Herb

BTW, here's the original from which this was cropped:

I like it, but I feel like I want to see either more or less of the hairline at top. I always hate cropping my images to 8x10. For headshots, I often put borders around them to keep from having to crop as much.

Not an example of anything, just a pretty headshot I did the other day. But if I were to crop it at 8x10, I feel it would loose a lot.

Thanks, Jason. I agree about the hairline but couldn't decide which way to go. I might mess with it some more and see what I can come up with.

I want you to look at this image close. I'm brutal these days so hang in there......

Do you like the nose shadow your light created? Is it flattering to her? Just look at her nose and nothing else and you tell me if you like that.

Do you like the partial tooth showing between her lips? Just look at her mouth and you tell me.

Some suggestions.......IF you like that pose, have her lean into your light, turn her chin into the light and have that light feather and wrap around. It will balance the hand in the hair pose and make it have flow. It will also create a short lighting style vs your broad light approach.

Thanks, JT. The more brutal the better. I couldn't figure out what bothered me with the middle of her face. After you mentioned it, I realized that it is the nose shadow. I also noticed the tooth, too. It actually looks worse here than in the original. It's is accentuated more in the smaller image.

Anyway, thanks again. This kind of feedback is exactly what I am looking for when I post to this forum. I don't want to coddled with remarks of "Great shot!" unless it's deserved. Besides, I can't learn how to fix my mistakes unless they are identified. Usually, I'm either too myopic or ignorant to see them myself.

Sincerely,
Herb
