This is a headshot of Shannon that I got last weekend. When I look at on my screen as saved, it looks fine. But after posting it, her face looks as if the makeup is mottled. Is it the way I'm saving the files (save for web setting) or is it the way the image is compressed after uploading? Or maybe it's just a crummy image. I want to save the images in the most efficient manner while not losing too much quality.

Any suggestions on the best way to save files for web posting? And of course your comments on the image itself would be greatly appreciated.

Dale

What size are you saving them as? (Pixels on each size and file size?)

No...I haven't a clue how to use it. I signed up for a Photoshop tips seminar at the Graphics of the Americas show in Miami Beach in a couple of weeks...maybe they'll cover that. What are the benefits of using it?

Try making hte long side 550 to 600 pixels. Be sure the file size is under 150k and try uploading again. That should give you better results. If I remember right the max size for your portfolio is 600 pixels on hte long side and 150k.

other than what others are saying, make sure you convert your image to sRGB before saving for the web. that way only web colors are being utilized.

If saving as a JPG, I always pick the highest quality. If you are doing a lot of saving, make sure you don't use JPG for your intermediate file type...JPG degrades on every save.
