my problem with these shots is not the photography, nor the model (she's very attractive), it's the art direction, i.e., the background. it's too busy for my tastes. and since the model is posed so close to it, your DOF is not very short, and it's brightly lit, it distracting.

Thanks Jimmy. I have been working on trying to improve my photography. If that is all someone at your level of work finds wrong, I'LL TAKE IT!!! I metered the lights to get f 8 at ISO 100. After the first shot or two, it seemed over exposed, so I bumped it up to f 11. That of course widend the DOF a bit. Then when I was editing, I noticed the camera was set to ISO 200 the whole time. She was probably 5 feet from the background or so. Ah well, we shoot and learn. Thanks again for taking the time to comment.

oh man, i can't tell you how many times i've brain farted and metered for one ISO and had my camera set for another or visa versa. and what really gets me is i end up sitting there, chimping the messed up exposure and scratching my head, trying to figure out WTF went wrong and blaming the meter, the camera, whatever when all the time it's me being a total airhead. and to make it worse, the model's looking at me like, "okay, uh huh, you know what you're doing... uh huh."

Exactly. I couldn't figure out why it pushed me to f 11 to get an exposure that wasn't washed out looking. Plus, my lighting was an old White Lightning WL 10,000. The only ajustments were full power, 2/3 power and 1/3 power. Plus moving the lighting back... then further back... Anyway, it's good to know I'm not the only one that does things like that. Thanks Jimmy.
