took this shot of nicki in front of a green seamless so i could key in something different for the background. the prop was used in the movie "mortal combat.' Hmmmmmm... i think i need to backlight a bit harder and/or move the model further from the green seamless cuz there's some green bleed on her legs.

nice prop...and model - cool picture. What method are you using to key? I use primatte with decent spill suppressor.

here's comes my ignorance.

what's primatte? a plug-in?

this was a quick bit of messing around in PS. all i used was photoshop's magic wand, clicked on the green, inverted the selection and yanked her out of the shot and dumped her onto a background i screwed around with. someone else in another post--a post regarding chroma key screens--mentioned that i neglected to put some terra firma under her feet and perhaps a shadow, which now--to me--seems sorely missing from the image.

The "Smooth," "Feather" and "Contract" selection modifiers can be your friends when trying to alter a background without altering a subject or vice versa. Try playing with them for a few minutes after you magic-wand your selected area and see if any of them help. For a chroma-key situation, "feather" would probably not be useful but the other two, almost certainly.

it is indeed a plugin. Rather good spill suppressing - just select spill then click on the green part of her leg - voila. Most of the time - able to do lots of tweaking. I also do a lot of video chromakeying with a product from fxhome.com called "Chromanator". It will work on stills too soon - it's rather impressive.
