Hot off the CF card. Photogenic beauty dish and a kickup reflector.

Gorgeous shot, Paul. I love your choice of color for the background, it really accentuates her eyes. Excellent work.

Love the shot... The background complements her eyes and skin as someone said before. I am guessing that the beauty dish is just above the photographer from looking at the reflection on her eyes.. correct?

Thanks very much. It's a 25" dish and is just above the model; very close. I'm shooting under it and behind it.

I am still trying to learn my studio lights and this is one of the particular 'looks' that I am after.. My tries seem to be always too "hot" or "flat"

... now I have something new to try.. Thanks

I'd suggest working with your main light as close to the subject as possible. And you might want to calibrate your meter. Here's a link to a paper I wrote on getting your camera and meter in sync.

calibrate

I love this shot, and this style in general. Beautiful model too.

Along with my AlienBee that's "in the mail", I'm also getting an AlienBee beauty dish - - - love that name, "beauty dish".

Question: You say you used a kickup reflector. Was the reflector sitting on a table in front of her, and was it flat or inclined towards her? Also, what color reflector?

I tried creating the same shot, with a silver reflector angled up towards the model. In my shots, her eyes have 2 catchlights. I think I prefer 1 catchlight. Any comments?
