Not to shabby at all sir.
As you pointed out, her hands. Nice facial expression and pose.

I would suggest MAYYYYBE a little more lighting on the side nearest the camera. To pick up more detail and texture of the clothing she is modeling.

BUT if the cap and scarf are the selling point of your print. YOU NAILED IT!
Overall I wouldn't be surprised seeing that photo as a GAP print add.

Well done sir.

if you're selling the hat/scarf, you've failed.

you're still shooting for the model.

lighting is good...for her face, but not for anything else. facial expression is in-between. clothing doesn't match the lighting and vice versa.

try again.

Why did you have to mess with the hands - just curious?

Overall its nice but not a great expression and her eyes are halfway closed. Also you chopped off her right eye with the bridge of her nose.

Casey:

The problem with shooting fashion when coming from a glamour background is that you are still following the rules of glamour. Fashion has its own rules where cutting off hands, oblique angles, and poor lighting are the norm and even encouraged. Look at any fashion magazine and critique it from a glamour perspective and you will find a minimum of 10 rule breakers-but the editors have chosen it to sell their merchandise. Go figure.

Your shot is good glamour but it's not fashion.

casey,

her facial expression suggests you wanted the model to show some attitude. however, it looks like she's trying way too hard. and what i mean by in-between is that it looks like you pressed the shutter while she was transitioning from one expression to the next. her mouth is very awkward looking.

why did you choose this mood, this pose, this kind of lighting in the context of what she's wearing? hat and scarf...fall/winter clothing...why the attitude shown by her expression? obviously the key elements in the outfit are the hat and scarf. shoot for that. what pose and what lighting would bring those elements to the forefront of attention? how is a scarf best photographed? perhaps some motion would have best served this image...the scarf shown flowing or something.

the clothing already has dark tones...which is easily lost in shadow.

see how her top has ridden up in the back? poor attention to detail.

just my observations.
