Hi and thanks for looking...

The '111' in the title refers to the first time I used Ashleigh, the first time using my new Multiblitz light and the first image post in GG.

I had a low-key image in my head, but wanted to preserve a fraction of her left side so as to not disjoint her face. I used a single light, white shoot through brolly on her right side, quite close and a large white sheet some distance away on her left for fill.
My exposure was f16 @1/250s and the light was set on 1/2 power.

My post processing was done in Photoshop CS. I deliberately didn't over process the shot to maintain reality and present Ashleigh as she really is.

Apart from the slightly odd catchlight shape in her right eye, I was pretty happy about this shot.

I would very much appreciate your comments and suggestions for the future.

Thank you.

Goose

It looks a little blue to me.

Hello V6goose, one very small nit-pic. I would try to have a little more ambient light in the room so that her pupil isn't quite so large. Remember, its the little things that turn around and bite us in the butt. Here's an example of mine. I wish that I had gotten her to remove her ring, and also her nail polish is distracting.

Hi David...

Thanks for your comments. I did that on purpose to make sure it was big, but over-did it in trying to remember everything i needed to remember to make the shoot worthwhile...

cheers

Hi Mark...

Hmmmm I shot a color swatch at the beginning of the shoot, color and contrast corrected the image in PS CS to try and get Ashleighs skin tones as perfect as possible. I will get around to buying a Spyder to calibrate my monitor one of these days to be really sure i get it right

Is there anything else i should be doing?

Cheers

This is not about anti smoking but the first thing I noticed was the dreaded "smoking on females" dimple.

Females should know this is an obvious sign of smoking.

pupilometrics experts the larger the pupil the greater the "approachability". If you're trying for intimacy in your image you should strive for larger pupils. I once took a series of a young lady with the same pose and dimmed the modeling lights from bright to very dim, printed the pictures and asked which people prefered. I did not point out the differences but almost all liked the larger pupiled ones even though they could not figure out why. They just felt more "comfortable" with it.

Thanks,

It is as plain as day when you know what you are looking for. I wonder what causes it, the damage from the cigarette smoke or the repeated mechanical action of smoking a cigarette.
