Beth,

My thoughts are that you are a pretty young lady. There's a couple of nice shots in your portfolio, but this definately isn't one of them. The B&W and the shot directly above it are nice. If I were you I would hook up with some better photogs in your area. Although I don't know anyone in NC, Robert Biggerstaff is just south of you in SC. I'm not sure how far you are from NJ, but Jason Etzel and Rick Shellhouse are worth a drive as well. Of course, I am a bit south of you close to Florida on I-95, but would love to have you come down to visit me in St Marys, GA.

Good luck. Hook up with some better photogs and I'm sure you'll do well.

Mike

I have to agree with Mike. I like the infrared B&W shot artistically, but you have no commercially acceptable images in your portfolio. You especially need a head shot. You might need to hire someone to do a head shot, then go out with a friend to get more body shots. Once you've got that, you should be able to attract the attention of some more talented photographers to fill in your book. Best wishes.

Beth,
I agree with the comments others have listed here. You really need some more professional looking work in your portfolio. I am in NC and would love to talk to you about updating your image.

Beth:

Of the five images in your portfolio this is the only one I would throw out. This image's contrast is too low. The other four are well lit and composed but a little too much post production editing for my taste.

I will agree that you need a good headshot or an image that will show us what your face looks like.

I agree with the others - this is the weakest of the bunch. The lighting it too flat and being so far away doesn't draw my attention to the subject.
As far as shooting with others - any workshops in your area that you can get involved with or art students that you can hook up with for photo sessions? Us photogs are always looking for models to shot with. Just try to get in front of the camera as much as possible - some good shots are bound to follow.
Good luck.
