Here are a few more. I know most are on black background but I'm slowly investing in muslins and lights, not to mention expensive ass lenses One strobe but no softbox etc. still taking most of these with hotlights (read Home Depot and not very portable) until I save up for a couple more nice strobes.

The last one is very warm, what are your thoughts?

..Steven

I really think you captured the essence of the model in the first one. However, the background on the right side of the picture is just out of sync with the beauty of the rest of the image. I would also suggest losing the watch.

To soften your lighting some you could also reflect it off of a white poster board. $20 for a 4x6'at Office Max. You loose some light, but heck just shine two more $8 clamp on work lamps at it.

Also you can go to a commercial art supply store and get what they call velum ( I think). Just shine the light through it to soften it. Basically it's thin translucent white plastic sheets. Reasonably priced also.

I'm trying all sorts of cheap lighting techniques. I'm sure others out here have more ideas.

You're very lucky to have a "model" like that. The second shot is very nice. The lighting looks great on the first shot.

Your shot with the Lexposition sign is a great idea.
Be very careful of a black background with any dark accessories. The hat removes her head. The sign distracts from the model. Next time, try a flash to highlight the dark accessories, dont use a sign, try using a sheer white scarf (with the black background). The affect will be the same, just not distracting.
I read the quote on the watch with the harp. BS. The watch is fine. However, pose the model with a seriouc expression, concentrating on her playing of the harp. Eyes can be closed.

Poses are great, but remember, NATURAL is always better.
