And don't hedge your opinion with "Art is in the eye of the beholder." Your eye is beholding it--tell me what you think.

Not crap. But who am I to say "art"? I like it. That's enough for me.

One thing - the lighting of the skin on her face seems curiously flat and monotone, while there is a sheen and depth to her legs, shoulders, arms - etc. I find that a bit disconcerting.

Cool work - thanks for posting.

Glad you like it, but I'm sure that there may be some others won't. The sheen on her legs is body oil she applied for a prevoius set up and the monotone is from the non-oiled make up.

Rick,

I like it. I love B&W's. I like the pose, facial expression and lighting. On the monitor I'm look at now (not my home monitor) I can barely see the front leg of the chair. The one under her right hand. This monitor is kind of dark. One thing I thought would look cool is to have some wisp of smoke coming from the cigarett. (if its there I can't see it).

Anyway, very nice image!

I like it also, but have a few minor suggestions;

(You told us not to "hedge" our opinions)

Number one her right shoulder is too high! The pose makes her look as if her neck is in pain, dropping the shoulder a bit would give it a more pleasing feel.

I donít know what it is but there is something funky about one of her toes on her left foot; is the shoe light colored on the inside, or is her toe crammed in there funny?

Additionally maybe shooting from a bit off to the right would give a slightly different perspective on the gown. (There is a slight dark ring around her belly button) as the pose kind of scrunches her abdomen a bit, moving to the right would give you a bit less of a flat on effect.

Otherwise I must say she is a beautiful model and the shot is a success. I must also say that the image has a wonderful feel of power though. A Female mobster, feeling to it.

Very nice.

My comcast cable is out right now and I'm using my sisters computer and it looks dark too. As for the smoke--we had a hard time keeping it lit, but I'll look again on my monitor to see if it'there.

Here ya go brother--no more toes-- which is the reason I didn"t use this image. that and neck wrinkles.

We are going to work together again in September and use a different chair which should solve some of the problems you mentioned. This was an after thought at the end of our shoot and we didn't take too much time doing them. shows doesn't it.

Hi Rick - I like this one (the second image) much better than the first, for only one reason: She has a neck. Otherwise, I like the first FOR the reasons that a couple of others don't like it. LOL...

Rick
I like the concept and the look I just don't like the crop. Good job. As to art or crap it is what you say it is not what we say it is.

And I saw much crappier crap selling as "art" when all I was able to see was crap.. Honestly, there was this one book about fashion lighting techniques...many of the models were shot in the mid day sun...and the photographers exposed for the shadows as always but did,'t try to soften the light on the model...or provide reflected fill lighting....or even fill flash..but...hey, they wore exotic make-up and IMO silly looking clothing...so I guess that constitutes as art...not crap.. so what do I know about art... In comparrison, I'd say that what you have to show is a masterpiece and worthy of a cover!...( to cover up their crappy cover photo) ..how's that?
