Marc,

I just saw you post this in the main forum. It's a great shots. The colors work well, though I think her skin is maybe a little too warm. Also, what's going on across her lower back. I can make out her arm, but what are those ruffles. I saw that of course after I was over the initial wow of the image. Overall, it's a really nice shot.

Mike

Those ruffles are her fingers. She's mimicking a pose that another photographer had prints of. Thanks for the feedback.

Oh yeah.... as for the warm skin tones, that is intentional to duplicate the images we were working from.

Okay -- you know I admire and respect your work. You've also been ready and willing to offer me advice and suggestions by phone, chat, or email. I love you, man.

That said.....

I'm not crazy about this shot. When it first came up in my browser, all I saw was the face. The expression looks demented and crazed. After I got over that, I did notice that she is nicely posed, and dressed, and made-up for some nice retro glamour, but the setting looks modern - from the air conditioning register in the floor, to the window dressings, to the back of the sofa. And the crop...why the peek of the kitchen on the left? And a minor nit-picky detail (but details are important, as you've told me before), is that a bow in her hair, or part of the window frame?

Sorry, Marc...

No need to apologize Ed. As I explained to Mike, I was in the home shooting 2 new models for an agency here in KC when Toria showed up with her models and this theme. I just snuck a quickie in. If I were planning this as my shoot, I would have done things differently but as it was, I was greatful that Toria, whom I had just met for the first time, was kind enough to allow me a couple of shots of the ladies. This is why I was there.

THe model, the outfit, her hair and makeup are all right on the money, excellent! What spoils this image for me is the location, especially the furniture. It doesn't fit, IMHO. The window treatment has a sort of country feel and that brings to mind retro/vintage but I'm not 100% it works with the theme either. There are elements in the background that work a little better, I'm talking about the vintage looking wooden chair partly visible to the left of the frame and the windows with their wooden frames. I'd like to see more of the model's left arm, it's just barely visible behind her torso.

Sincerely,

Robert Jensen

YUP... it could go on the nose of a bomber !!!! Not crazy about the model's face, but hey, that's not your doing. Besides.... who's looking at a face from 10,000 feet whilst being hit with 40,000 lbs of ordinance?!?!?!

Honestly, I like it altough the backround is a little distracting.

I like the "technicolor " look... the legs make the shot but ....honestly...I personally think it could have been better because of all the "stuff" in the shot that distract me...and take away from the model and the look you are going for..... the chair in the far left..( where you can see the back of it sticking out) is nearly as sharp as the chick in the photo.. the large white patches of light look distracting to me...and take awau from the model.. .and the so is the modern furnishings.. I like the rose blinds though... it looks like those may have been proped in the shot on purpose... but, I'd give it a 7 on a 1-10.. It is a decent shot... but I have seen better from you..
