You may have trouble getting comments when people have to go back and forth to see the images. The reason this forum works well is that when the images are on the actual post you can refer to them easily while you write the reply.

All that said;

#1 - The leaf in the upper left corner is a detractor it caught my attention right away. I like the way her arms come from the corner up to her face. I am not keen on her smile it looks strained.

#2 - Cutting her hands halfway off bothers me and add to that we see a cutoff bracelet. Her expression is better but her left eye looks awkward. Even with the cutoff hands I like this one better than the first.

Keep shooting and sharing.

Nice study of your model. Try to increase the contrast and saturation a little.
In my opinion, most digital cameras, in normal mode, produce images a little flat and need sharpening. Make "color balance" your best fiend when shooting and unsharp mask your last friend when you get ready to print or save.
IMHO,

Jim

Hi Ryan,

Welcome to GG! I'm sure you'll love it here.

As to your images, I don't like the first one personally. Her left arm looks like it's been broken and bent the wrong way and the leaf in the upper corner is distracting. That's minor though. Photoshop is a wonderful thing for those little distractions. I think Mike mentioned her smile looking forced and I'm kind of seeing the same thing. Sometimes the difference between capturing the natural smile and the forced smile is a split second because the face is transitioning as a person smiles and if the shutter release is pressed just a microsecond to quickly, it can capture the "forced" portion of the smile.

The second image, in my humblest of opinions, is a much stronger shot. Her smile looks more relaxed (and she has a pretty smile) and the positioning of her head makes it a stronger image too. There appears to be more confidence in her posture. Her hands being cut off is an issue but maybe your original has her hands shown.

Just some thoughts. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful weekend!!!

Good day!

Mike

Cropped and played with the saturation. Any thoughts?

Thanks again

I like it. Depending on your PS skills you might want to soften the area under her eyes. The lighting causes then to be defined and dark, but that is just a preference of mine. I guess I shoot so many portraits I try to soften around eyes a lot.
