I like the model, the lighting, and the composition, but there is some serious artifacting going on that is bugging the heck out of me. I'm not sure if it's a jpg thing, a sharpening thing, or a resizing thing, but the photo just looks off to me.

thanks for the kind words - I am still getting the hang of this photoshop thing, so on reflection, I see what you mean - particularly in the shadows in the hair. The original ".tiff" file does not have the same problems. Thanks for pointing out the problems as well. Here is another from the same shoot with a very different look:

Okay, now I'm sure; it's a jpg thing! The speckling is a giveaway; try the save for web option and play with the compression settings. Again, model, lighting and composition are good for me, but the image got chewed up at the end. Arrrgh!
