Trust me , he'll just write something down now and have the employees sign it .
( if they want to keep their jobs that is )

It's the people that don't even try that ruin things for the working people.

I worked on a jobsite where the sign was to be installed at the entance/ exit of a plaza .
There was a "homeless" man standing there the whole time , yelling at us because he could not 'catch' the first couple of cars at the light with his little show .
This "homeless" guy got probably $300 in cash in one morning and 6 bags of groceries , a winter coat , brand new work boots .
We saw this happen , a friend of his would pull up once an hour in a mercedes to take the 'spoils' out of sight !

to your tools the second time around?
No use worrying about the slackers. . . they'll be with us always. The sad part is that we, in our molly-coddling of our youth, have failed to teach them that an individual is defined by his work. Instead, it seems, too many think their value is found in what society owes them.

If anyone in Australia is reading this thread, it is a perfect example of why Howard's new Industrial Relations laws must be repealed. This is the sort of thing that will happen under the new laws. Send him a message, and vote him out at the next election.

StanTom, I feel for you. I hope it all works out okay.

Like I mentioned ( I think ) , I was going to leave a month ago until talked out of it ...
BUT I had taken most of my stuff home ( rarely used but there just in case )
Still .... the guard did walk me through the shop to get what was still there

Tell me about peoples way of thinking, not just the young ones, IF I was using a tool and it broke , I would most likely go out that night and replace it .
let's just say - most people I know would not worry about something like that until the next time they needed it and then it wouldn't be their fault that they couldn't do the work.

They DON'T want to work they just need proof that they 'looked' for work to qualify to keep getting benefits.
I would have liked more of a 'vacation' , but I already have an interview , most likely to get it , since it would screw up my trip to JT's workshop next month . That is my normal kind of luck.

At your interview if they are interested in you just say you have a "prior commmitment" on the days of JTs workshop and after that you will go thru normal channels for vacation/timeoff. It really should be that simple.

I know it sounds simple enough , I had met with one person there already before sending a resume , he thought they could work around it

Strange how I personally feel like it is like taking advantage of people that don't even know me , and getting time off of a job I 'might' get within a few weeks of the hire date

Its called taking responsiblility, you showing a possible employer that you keep your word, your prior commitments period and /or just sticking up for yourself.. Just because its a fun thing for you is irrelevant, having some down time is healthy and sane, and if you dont get any you will get unhelathy and insane...

Well , I went in for an interview this morning and I thought is wasn't going very well , not having hands-on experience with the type of machinery they use .
Not to mention I got the interviewers name wrong ( mixed up first name of the guy that called me and the last name of the supervisor )

Anyway ... 1/2 hour after I get home I got call to go back tomorrow to fill out papers and go for a drug test .
Trial period starts monday .
Should be fun learning how to run a water-jet cutter

Now I have to go UN-file for unemployment
Later
Stan

I was just wondering how the new gig is going and if you are going to get to go to JT's?

I am hoping to go HTTL next year.
