No one listens, they ALWAY just check other's prices and then price themselves a little less, (which if the guy you priced is nuts and losing money, wil kill ya) but I'll try anyway,,,, go to www.montezucker.com
and ppa.com for pricing basics. Also google editorial photographers and see what Seth Resnick has to say about pricing.
For photographers to share pricing info is a crime. Its called price-fixing, so you have to be very careful even discussing it.
The PROPER way to determine what you charge for ANYthing, is to build a buisnes splan, and marketing plan. Then you KNOW what YOU need to charge in yoru market with yoru target clients. Without doing that mostusually pay o work, and don't know it until its too late and they end up asking folks "if they want fries with that..."
Do the plans, do the math, if you can't charge what you need to, in order to prosper, do something else. Don't forget taxes, insurance, lisc's, business permits, and every other expense, and of course your sig other's appetite for money. Add it ALL in there, don't assume because you work at home you have no expenses, your time, your future, your clients and your family's future depends on you making correct informed choices, which you can only do if you do the PLAN. Best wishes, Jeffrey
