I have been advertising with a couple of clean and classy adult stores and have an excellent working relationship with both owners. We have been placing brochures, business cards, etc in each for over a year but the results have not been there as we had hope. I spoke to each owner many times and they assured us that their clients love our work and are interested in doing glamour/boudoir type work. But, they don't call.

My question to glamour1 members can you help me identify possible objections or hesitation factors that I am not addressing with my marketing materials such as the fact that I am a male photographer. What would cause a women who wanted to give their spouse/mate NOT to do this? Any help will be appreciated.

It could be that you're advertising in adult stores. Classy or not, I'd think that the type of people who patronize that type of establishment are probably not the types who would be interested in glamour/boudoir photographs. Of course, I could be totally wrong. It wouldn't be the first time.

It would seem to me that if I was going after the classy/boudouir (sp?) market, I would strike a working deal with some of the owners/managers of the classier lingerie shops around town. That's where your chosen market is shopping at. JMHO

I would go more for classy high end marketing. Think Beverly Hills, as opposed to North Hollywood. Adult book stores? I honestly don't see how you arrived at this area as a point for advertising. A nice low key classy web site would be a start. Again, notice how classy keeps coming into the picture. Do a google search and see what comes up. I would also go with high end lingeries shops, as mentioned previously, as well as high end boutiques.

Good luck.

Thought of another place you might place some brochures in...Day Spas! Where women go to get pampered!

What is in your brochure? Does it have prices? What kinds of samples does it show? What is the call to action? It might be helpful to post a scan of the brochure. Do you have a website to augment the brochure?
Cheers,
rfs

A local studio ran some spots on local TV here, in the morning talk/news segments (Today Show, etc). My wife saw the ads while I was out of town and talked about it for weeks. Check with the ad rep to place your ad in other programming that skews to women as well.
