HI I just got a call asking me to shoot 10 girls. They will supply everything (makeup artist, art director, etc) I just need to go there and shoot all they? Plus they want all copyrights. Usually i just sell licensing not my copyrights. The photos are not going to be used in any commercial or anything of that nature. They just want to make sure they photos don't end in the internet. How much would you charge for all of the copyrights? I know they are priceless.... but just in case, What would be a fair and decent price?

What ever the market will bare in your area, ask them how much they have in the budget. If it is close to what you are thinking do it. If the price is not right time to start negotiations.

There seem to be many unknowns in what you are asking. You say the photos will not have a commercial use, but then why are they hiring someone to take the photos. They must have some usage intent for the photos, and unless you and we know what that intent is, it is difficult to quote a price. Essentially they are asking you to do a work for hire. Also you say they will supply everything. Does that mean they will have the lighting or will you have to provide that. What sort of shots are to be made. Are they fashion, nude, what? All of these factors must be figured into the equation.
Cheers,
rfs

Well

They dont want the photos to be used commercially without their consent, It would be a normal model photoshoot x 10. The ony part that puzzle me is the copyright priing for so many photos. Again I will coached them about the difference between Licensing and copyrights, but in the case they still want the copyrights???? could be a thousand or more photos. I think a assignment fee x 3 as in editorial fees!!!

Try this thought process..... take whatever you want your day rate to be (assuming an 8-hour day or whatever is normal in your area), add a per-hour overtime charge above and beyond your day rate, then multiply that by a factor that compensates you for the loss of further sales and useage (by all means, get permission for YOU to use the images for self-promotion at least) by selling the copyright and then tack on any expenses.

I've done this a couple of times.. and for me it worked out like this:

I figured my day rate to be about +/- $300. The customer wanted the copyright, so we negotiated a rate that doubled my day rate, and then they picked up the expenses (props, MUA, catering). And yes, I did get the right to use the image for self-promotion (limited to hard copy promo book and personal web page, but not on anyone else's site like GG/G1 the Other Place, etc.).

Also, consider this (if you're worried about selling the complete rights to the images)... on a model shoot, you're not normally going to be getting a model release, anyway, if the model has hired you to shoot them... so the chances of you successfully exploiting the images, commercially, are almost nil, anyway. So, in a way, you're not selling anything except the right to use the images in an editorial context - possibly, depending upon your contract with the model you're shooting.

G'luck!
