Just a helpful hint. If you want MySpace or any other web presence to work for you, it helps if it can be read. You choice of dark text on a dark gray background is not too helpful. I couldn't read 90% of what you had there.

cheers,

RFS, thanks for the feedback. I did not think it was to hard to read...but then what I think does not really matter I'll make some changes to it.

I had started a MySpace a while back really just to protect my name. But in the last couple of months I had seen that it could be of benefit so I decided to update it and keep it going.

It is too soon for me to tell how much of benefit it is, but I do think there is potential there. So I will keep it going; and it is fun.

Take a look...

Myspace is a great marketing tool and is one of the most-trafficked sites online, with membership approaching 100 million, which is why you should use it to help brand yourself. First you want to create a simple easy to read profile. Keep it personal about you and interesting so people will want to know more about you. Keep it updated with new pictures you have taken or pictures of yourself. The more information about you the better. Stay away from adding music or videos unless you have created the contents yourself, remember you want your myspace profile to have content about you not other people.
Once you have created your profile you need to start networking with other members within the same social network. Search for other users within your industry and send as many friend requests as you can find. You can also leave comments on member’s profiles or send a private messages.

Do not just stick to myspace . Join as may social networks as you can find such as ning.

It must be the area I'm in!

I made a Myspace page a few months ago, added a few friends and model types, but for the most part all I see when browsing my zip area are gangstas, male and female, and I get spam from "models" all over the country that want me to add them, who have xxx pay sites linked to their page.
I'm just too old to tolerate most of the pages I see there,..obnoxious music, porno movie clips, VERY LARGE sloooow loading pictures all on their main page, fonts you can't read, ebonics, every other word starts with F,...I can hardly believe the amount of the younger generation of hairbrains that are out there.
In short,..I can't stand the site!

I'm not a big fan of My Space, but I do see the benefits of finding potential models. If I had one I wouldn't use it as my main page. I'm planning a website and I've already applied most of what RFS has mentioned about keeping it simple and easy to read. Perhaps I'll join the 21st Century and get my own page, but for now I'm opting out..

Mike!!! you're doing it wrong!! Myspace is like anything else you have to work it to get attention, I have over 700 friends mostly local girls, photographers, models,MUA's stylist, salon owners etc. the best feature is the bulletins, when I post one 700 people may potentially see it. I post bullentin Contests offering a free photo! okay its really TFP, but the word FREE seems to grab attention...just to give you an example of how fast you can build a potential client base, I created my new account a couple of months ago, and had 500 friends in a lil over a week..its simple, put your work up there for them to see, I dont like their image uploads because they compress the crap out them..so I built my page displaying images from my server using simple html code. as far as music I have to disagree with RFS, chicks dig it if you put up something that your target audience likes or fits the theme of glamour photography, you know something sexy. anyway once you add some local potential models(girls that appear comfortable in front of a camera) lol...once they add you, look at thier friends list...wow hot girls there too!! so add some of them, guess what, they get to talking, then you get one that works with you TFP and her friends want pics too..its like dominos....remember me? the guy who used to only photograph his wife? well 99.5% of my models now are from myspace and 100% of my paying clients either are on myspace or thier myspace friends recommended me!!
but like anything else you have to work it, guess thats why you dont see me much on forums anymore, because Im working myspace, A LOT!
just my two cents...http://www.myspace.com/fantasiesimage

Ron I see the same stuff you see. I just made a new myspace profile and already I had 3 models who are nothing but spam for a xxx site. I searched my zip and found nothing worth even looking at much less I would want to shoot. I had a few friends on my old page but nothing ever came of it. So lets see what happens with this one..

Hi Mike,...I don't work at "networking" very seriously, but I made a new page after deleting my first one in disgust after looking at some of the "Hip" pages of locals. Ha,Ha,..

I sent you a friend request on your new page,...the bkgrnd color on your page makes the text hard to see on my screen. I made my page using http://www.strikefile.com/myspace in case you want to check it out.
