There's been a lot of buzz, positive buzz, about Google+ in recent weeks. And a lot of that buzz might be for some very good reasons.

Not that I'm necessarily counting it as one of the reasons for the buzz, but if anyone might eventually dislodge Facebook as the social media site of choice for many, many people, Google just might be the one to do it. Frankly, if Facebook went the way of MySpace, I sure wouldn't shed a tear or lose any sleep over it. READ MORE?

jimmy, I'm a beta user of Google+, though I haven't done much with it, as I work on it when I can as I have so much to do already, it does seem promising and is very cool to use. I like the "circles" thing, so that way you can see what various groups of friends are doing. But I'm not worried about Facebook, it has it's advantages, especially the fan pages for photographers as I talk about in this article, Every Photographer Needs A Facebook Fan Page.

Facebook has one advantage over Google, "first-mover advantage" and that's with already 700 million people using it, so I don't see a major threat. Facebook hasn't done with Myspace did, get bought out by a company and become a big commercial, hence why Myspace is dead and Facebook propelled.

On another note, I read where one of your photos was deleted. My Facebook "personal" account is private, and recently I had someone report one of my images--that's normally how photos get deleted there. So I've been cleaning out so-called "friends" that opt'd in to follow me. Don't like my photos, then why did you ask to follow me? Right. Well what's cool now, and I hope it's a move in the right direction for Facebook, is that now they show you the "offending photo" and give you the right to challenge it. The weakness, you still don't know who reported it, but now, you can at least challenge it.

What I see in the future, per some "inside FB" connections, is FB telling you who reported you--which I can't wait, cuz then I'll block and delete them from my friends list. It's coming, and the beauty of Facebook, when they add something new, you find out about it when it's turned on, not before, so I hope to catch a phony red handed soon! Thanks for your wisdom again, always a pleasure to read your blog, rg sends!

thanks for the thoughtful response, RG. As you know, one of the most basic tenets of American criminal law is the right to be confronted by one's accuser. That notion, of course, doesn't hold true for FB when someone flags a photo. Worse yet, there was no recourse for the person whose photo was flagged. In fact, I was never convinced a human being even looked at the supposedly offensive photo. They just deleted it sight unseen. I didn't know FB changed any of that and, if so, that's a step in the right direction. Revealing who flagged the photo would be another good step.

Funny Jimmy, I started to work on this the other day, but since you brought it up, I went ahead and finished it. "Photographers' Rights In Social Media, Specifically Google+ & Facebook" http://www.lensdiaries.com/56k
Thanks again for all your input, rg sends!

A good article, i knew Google + wont be able to get that much fame. Google + cant match the interface that facebook is able to provide without doubt....
