This photo was taken a few weeks ago in Long Boat Key, Florida. The picture was taken at dusk (one of the best times of day I find to use your off camera flash)
Some of the camera settings:
Shutter Speed 1/250th
Aperture 6.3
ISO 200
RAW + JPG
Didn't have a warming gel, but I find using Vibrance in post production can warm up the skin tones quite nicely at times.

I was using at one point a silver lined umbrella however, more for the efficiency then what it would do to the skin tones. The wind reaked havok on the umbrella and ultimately ruined it….so I simply placed the “un-modified” SB-800 on a light stand and directed the light towards the model at approximately a 45 degree angle, about 8 feet away. I am very happy with the overall result of this picture given the circumstance, it was the model, myself and an off camera flash. I would expect more given I had assistants holding lights for me….but how many of us have that luxury during a model photo shoot?

Hey Jeff -

Looks like we carry a lot of the same equipment in our bag ... except I don't have the luxury of shooting in beautiful Florida. TIP: If you use the SB-800 and drag the shutter, you can get a lot more color in the sky and water (Texas lake examples below).

Great photo's and ideas. Thanks for posting. I like the drama in the first photo, bit of armeggedon in the sky.
