most of my images. I always find something that could have been done better, whether it was the lighting, posing, or something else.

Anyone else feel this way about their work?

Ben, I am the same way and I think this is one important characteristic that sets the great photographers apart from the not so great and the good photographers is the desire to always improve and push oneself to do better.

Not that I am a great photographer but I will always aspire to be one. Keep up the good work and post some images. It's been a while since we have seen you around these parts.

I am never satisfied with what I do. Every time I think I have a good shot, I start to find all the things I did wrong.

It seems I also am not a good judge of my photos either. My favorites are rarely the ones that get good reviews and comments, while the ones I think are just so-so seem to get all the attention. Go figure.

I am never 100% happy with what I do. Once in a while I Get close, but I can usually see all sorts of things I could/should have done differently.

That is called "learning", we all do it every time pick up a camera or look at the images we have shot.

We see what would have been better and apply that the next time.

If you ever become 100% happy with your photos, then it wil be time to sell your gear as it will all be over. I've been shooting for well over 50 years and do not believe I have ever looked at one of my images without seeing something I could have improved. There is no such thing as a perfect photo.

That is more the point I was trying to make. I am always asking myself what could I have done differently to make it better.

After 40 years, I seem to have gotten stale. I did get a great boost in enthusiasm when I changed to digital, and that might have been one thing that kept me going these last 10 years.

I guess I'm the fairly new guy compared to yourself and Doug, I've only been at this for 25 years, but yet, I am the same way. For me, it's the driving force to make me a better photographer, learn new techniques, try different things, and ask questions. As I've found out as I'm sure both of you have, it does depend on who you ask for advice. Like in other areas of life, knowledge is one thing, wisdom is a completely different ball game.
