This was my third shoot with the lovely Shannon Richards ... and like my two previous shoots, I've learned that the best way to get great pictures of Shannon is to just show up ... and try not to screw up. Enjoy.

All images shot with Nikon D700, Nikkor 70-200mm lens, SB-800 speedlight, Photoflex 48" gold reflector.

Thanks for sharing. On the first image, I would have never cropped her fingers off, otherwise, you're good to go! Thanks, rg sends!

Damn, I cut off her fingers. Don't know where my mind was. Here's a replacement (dang, I just noticed that I cut off her toe). Must be the "crop factor" in my camera. LOL

Hey Gary ... the sun was coming over my right shoulder (about 90 minutes before sunset), my assistant was standing on the left side of Shannon with a 48" gold reflector, bouncing some light onto her hair and face ... and I also used my SB-800 to even out the shadows on her face.

You should just build yourself a cabin with a studio out there. It would save on gas.

Nice series Marty.

Ah, great great work, like the warm colors and the exposure I realy realy love on your photos, thrully you are showing how to use a flash for portraits....

I would like to use this thread here and to ask a simple(for you ofcourse not for me) question about how you set you flash for proper exposure.
Do you go all in manual (camera and flash) or you use any auto adjustment (by camera or by flash).
Is it on camera or off camera flash you are using.
i have never been a user of Nikon but I heard that Nikon flashes are excellent for auto metering of proper bounce.... ???
would appreciate your input over this(i think many of us amateur would like to know it)...

regds Zak
