I challenge every photographer, of all levels, take a piece of gaffer's tape and carefully tape your LCD screen for one photo shoot--it'll bring you back to the film days, but more important, it will improve your photography and challenge your skills. This exercise is like shooting slide film, the strenghts of your photographic abilities will be apparent and your weaknesses will be exposed. Thanks, rg sends!

In addition to that try this...
Earlier models of cameras came with a very small memory card (? 32 megs? or such). See if you can find one and use that in a session. The beauty of doing this is, like film, you have a limited number of shots until you can't shoot anymore.

Oh sure, you could start deleting shots as you go but that's very much like fishing...do you keep the one you just caught...or do you throw it back in the hope that the next one is even bigger?

This is a good challenge, alternatively we could also just use a Film SLR as well hah!

An interesting idea I think I'll try it as well as a small card. I have not particularly missed the film days, but this exercise will certainly make your remember how lucky we are now.

I really like the idea... I'll have to try that here soon. I really did spend more time zeroing in my shots when I shot film and had a limited number of shots and couldn't review them till later. Each photograph had it's own weight and dramatic tone with each shutter click.

How about I just put the 120 film back on my H2 and shoot some nice T-Max B&W film. Or for glamour perhaps the Astia chrome would be a better choice...

Actually I already have that planned for Sunday with my well tattooed model Ruca.

We did this last year as an assignment, I forgot to change my white balance, but aside from that it looked pretty good. Never shot 35mm though, so kinda brought me forward rather than back, haha.
