Apple released that it will soon start shipping it's newest product, the iPad--and it rocks! I also predict it will be the future of hand-carried portfolios! Meanwhile, I made a post on my blog that references it, though the post is mainly about the future of photography books, enjoy, http://rolandogomez.net/2010/01/the-...ography-books/ Thanks, rg sends!

I agree, with the available capacities of the Ipad, wi-fi, and 3G capabilities, it will be a very useful tool for the photographer both on the shoot, and as far as presentation as well.

I actually have a few thoughts of why I would not buy an Ipad.

1. The upgradeability is simply not there.
2. Touch screens do often get scratches finger print stains and lose or become hyper sensitive. Many restaraunts and bars have these and sometimes have issues.
3. Certainly could not do any real quality photo editing on this with any real control.

I have a G4 macbook, its ok but looking back I could have spent the same money on a pc and purchased more machine. I have a desktop I built and its a pc running 64 xp pro and I will probably build another. Unfortunately Apple makes it very difficult to build your own machine and load their os onto it.

Dunno, if it's as good as m iPhone, I'm game, though I wouldn't buy the first generation I've had an iPhone for quite sometime, the only reason I've changed it, is to stay up to date with the latest version, though I'm one version behind Thanks for your input, rg sends!

No question it is certainly an interesting looking gadget and I would not mind having one. But for a portfolio 'book' I'm not so sure. For one, at the going price I would be more than a little reluctant to leave it behind for review. Seems to me that for a quarter of the price, or even less, one of those portable picture frame gadgets would work about as well. My brother gave one to our mother for Christmas and it offers a pretty photo viewing.
