Wear something like this:

Sorry, checked your profile. Your a photographer and male, the above advice probably won't work.

I see that you are very young compared to a lot of people here. So I will say learn all you can on lighting, exposure, know your camera and what it can do. Learn how to pose your model, be people friendly, learn how to approach people you want to photograph, take lots and lots of photos, (hope you have a digital camera) and just learn all you can to produce great photos.

I donít live in an area where photographers are sought out so I go to most of my models. I do get sought out but in ratio of looking and being looked at is very wide.

Awesome man, although I know nothing about that school, I'm sure it will be a good experience. I'm a couple months from completing a 2 year photog program at Fanshawe College in London Ontario, and it's been the best 2 years of my life. Experiment as much as possible, in my program it's a lot of technical stuff, and we barely get any instruction on working with people and models. After a couple shoots you'll get used to it, and things will pick up. Take advantage of school equipment and studio time! Good luck man!

I'm familiar with SAID and Fanshawe College. It is an education course to help you understand about photography.

It is difficult to someone to notice you if you are doing "common" photography like other photographers. Try to capture unique and powerful images. That may attract models, art buyers, publishers and others.

It is also possible that you will get noticed by assisting other (wedding) photographers. They may refer clients to you if they are already booked.

If you are doing product, still life, landscapes or anything that does not involve talking to your 'model' (other than cursing. ) then practice, practice, practice. You are young enough not to have to worry about such menial things like...food, shelter, health care costs that you should have the time to do this.

If you are going to work primarily with 'real live girls' try posting your name as an assistant to other shooters. You'll gain LOADS of experience, especially if you snag a good shoot with someone who knows how to (1) talk to the model and keep their enthusiasm up and (2) give clear concise directions. Do not (a) show up to the shoot with your gear unasked for and (b) do not ask to bring your gear. If invited to do this be mindful that you are there to assist and to learn, not to outshine the primary shooter.

In regards to the model/s, treat them as you would treat your girlfriend...or better your sister...or even better yet, your mother. Respect!
