These are from my first shoot with some new to me gear; Hasselblad H2 & Phase One P45 digital back. I'm loving the new perspective.

Model: SaraLiz
MUA: Kay Castro

Hasselblad H2, Phase One P45, HC 210mm f/4
ISO 50, f/8, 1/100

Comments appreciated as always.

Nice job. I don't know whether the 32 Mp makes it sharper, at this image size, but they're pretty darned nice images, IMO.
Is the back equivalent to "full frame" on a 6x6? In other words, is shooting a 210 mm on that the same as a 210 on medium format film?
Is the Moire effect on her abdomen in the second frame also apparent in the full-size image, or an artifact of scaling to postable size?
Again, nice work. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the compliment...

The sensor size on the P45 is 49.1x36.8mm. The H2 is a 645 format body with 120/220 film compatibility (56x41.5mm), so the crop ratio is approximately 1.1. I chose this back over some of the other offerings (P30 etc.) because those have a 1.3 crop factor. If you've got the $, you can upgrade to the P65+ with it's 60MP and 53.9x40.4mm sensor. That's as close as any manufacturer has gotten to full frame 645 format.

The Moire you see is not a digital artifact. In fact I could see that pattern with my eyes. The garment is made of two layers of mesh material. when they happen to align, you can see through to her skin and when they don't you just get white. You can see this clearly in a full size image.

And for the pixel peepers, here's a link to the full size jpg to magnify to your hearts desire: Click Here

Nice images indeed! I also took a look at the full sized version, and still pretty nice. I'm still on the fence about really high mexapixels, but I assure you that I will most likely base whatever opinion I come too based on examples given here at GG. Your images I'd place in the pro category for more pixels.

For me it's less about the megapixel count and more about the recording medium size. The perspective you get from medium format is so much closer to the human eye, it's hard to resist. Unfortunately to enjoy that size sensor, you need a fairly high MP count. I was originally shopping for a P25 (22MP), but came across the P45 at a price that I couldn't pass up.

It will take me a little while to adjust to this new kit, but the results from the first shoot are certainly intoxicating...

And thanks for your compliment, although I'm certainly no pro.

Beautiful images. So what size CF card do you use with a 39MP camera? LOL

Thanks for the full-sized version. Awesome! I'm truly amazed - and that's not common for me, with digital technology. Really NICE toy there.

Excellent details in the full size jpg image. I would imagine that you fill up a memory card pretty fast especially if you were to shoot in RAW files.

The RAW file from the P45 is approximately 120MB. I use SanDisk Extreme IV 8GB cards. When I put in a freshly formatted card, the back shows 180 images available. I'm not sure I believe that because if you do the math, 8GB divided by 120MB you get around 65 or so. Not an issue for the way that I shoot anyway. For this shoot with SaraLiz, I made a total of 90 exposures from three looks/locations. Well within my flash collection of 32GB.

And I only shoot in RAW mode.
