My model friend Crystal called me in a panic yesterday ... she entered a contest to become a Dean Guitar spokesmodel and needed a sexy, hot "rockstar" picture. No problem. We spent 30 minutes putting together her outfit, 30 minutes setting up the studio lighting, and 30 minutes reviewing images, selecting the two top shots and adding all the Photoshop lighting effects. Here's what we came up with ...

That was an hour and one-half well spent. Nice results in short period of time.

I'm always open to share lighting technique on this forum (although my "technique" is really just "make it up as I go"). On left below is the "out of the camera shot" and on right is the final image.

I had one main light (AB800 with medium softbox) as my key light. All my other strobes were behind her. Two strobes on camera left with (one with red and one with blue gels) pointed at her head and right shoulder. One strobe camera right with a red gel pointed at her head and left shoulder. Then, I mounted a hairlight strobe on my boom arm with a pink gel (I ran out of red gels) ... and (here's the great part) ... for the background light, I put a second strobe on the same boom arm and pointed it back at the black seamless paper background and covered it with a blue gel. It didn't give me enough color, and I was out of strobes, so ... I hung my SB-800 speedlight on the same boom arm with a super clamp and put a blue gel on it. My boom arm is slightly bent in an arc from all the weight ... but it still works!

...That's what I like, not too much of the PSD work, main job done by seting up the lights, you just give a good realistic ambient with PSD work what is very hard in studio with all neccessary equipment for the music stage...
great work, thank for sharring again I love what you've done here...
regards Zak
