Hi everyone,

I'm new to photography and had my first ever shoot with a model a few weeks back. I chose an experienced model called Michelle...I thought it would help if at least one of us knew what we were doing!! Michelle was fantastic actually, very pleasant and easy to get on with.

Anyway, here's the one of the pictures from that shoot. I'm reasonably proud of this one but would love to get some honest feedback from other GG members.

Thanks in advance.

Nice looking model. I think I would have liked this better with a rectangular crop as opposed to square. That way you would have included the entire necklace and a little more of her chest. the shadow thrown by that stray strand of hair just above her right eye is a little bit of a distraction. Other then that not a bad job.

Classic case of "centeritis" you have her eye dead in the center of the frame. You may want to check some books / articles where they discuss the rule of thirds to help make stronger images.

As a general rule of thumb I have always heard "let the eyes follow the nose" in this case the eyes bridge the nose, giving you a ton of "white" had her head been turned just a bit more toward the camera this problem would have been corrected.

Hope that helps.
