I was told about chrome printing. Something about there being chrome in the ink so that the print is more vibrant. I was wondering if anyone here knows anything about that and if there are any good online photo labs that can do it...thanks

Well, I've never heard of chrome printing from a normal ink/bubble jet or laser or computer printer, but I have heard of chrome printing as in Ciba (now/later Ilfo) chrome printing, which was for printing from slides which produces outstanding prints with really great sharpness, color, contrast, and saturation. Unfortunately, not a whole lot of labs did cibachrome's to begin with, and now, I'm sure there are many less. The last time I did it was through Duggal in NYC.

It sounds like you're describing printing on metallic paper.

There should be many professional labs that offer "chrome" prints from digital files.

Kodak has a metallic paper and Fuji has one also, and Fuji has what is called "pearl" which I like better than the metallic.

Maybe you are thinking of "AluminArte"?
www.imagewizards.net

I received some samples od prints on aluminum plates that are pretty amazing.

I'm not sure when I'll use it, but I saved the samples.
