Sam from DarkLeather and PhotoGothy here, again; it seems I poke my nose in about once a year and then life intrudes and distracts me... I think I'll be back for longer this time, but it would be silly to promise, I suppose...
I've been focused on pinup photography most recently, but I still indulge my darker impulses with some regularity:

Model Electric Babydoll, dress, photography, makeup, ME.
C&C always welcome.

Interesting to note she has make-up on her left face and tatoo on her right arm.

It seemed to balance out better that way... I can't claim any grand artistic imperative, though.

A very interesting image and almost surreal. The skull side seems to jump out at you and contrasts well with the beauty side.

Good to see you around Dark Leather, its been a while for both of us. I just posted an image of Xotica from the Goth Swimsuit Calendar in an outfit you made for her. Talk about a blast from the past.

Welcome back.
Nice work - impressive make-up work on your part, and I like the idea.
May be my eyes and screen, but I think it would benefit from a touch more separation of the model from the background - although that might decrease the impact of the skull, hard to judge w/o seeing it.
Thanks for sharing.

The lighting took a bit to sort out; two spots on the skull side, softbox on the glam side, every light I could lay my hands on, essentially...

I remember that swimsuit! She lost 5 pounds between fitting and wearing. I'm not sure from where, mind you...

It admittedly lost something in the resizing, but I was actually trying to minimize the differentiation; in my head, I wanted to pull in something of the old "skull hovering in midair" cheesy horror feel. It also has much more punch as a print, which doesn't really matter in an online gallery, I suppose...

I remember when she walked out in it. Everyone in the room did a double take. She looked great.

Could she have actually swam in it?

..."something of the old "skull hovering in midair" cheesy horror feel."
Yeah, that's I thought you might have wanted with the minimalist separation, and what I meant by "decrease the impact of the skull." Too much skin exposed on her arms and chest to really get the "floating skull" effect, though.
"Too much skin exposed" - jeez, I AM old.

@rdavis: She could've swum in it, but there would have been words when I saw it afterward...
@jford: yeah, I keep catching myself wanting people to show a little reserve, and wondering when I turned into my grandmother... Sheesh!
Wait until you see the next version of this shoot; I've got another Day of the Dead dress in the works...
