Night shoot with Jessica V at my friend Rick Head's digs. (aka Simi Studios.) I assisted Rick for the stuff he shot, Rick assisted me for mine. Used the old beat-up Ford pickup in Rick's backyard for a prop. It was freakin' cold! Poor Jess, goosebumps and turning blue. But she was a trooper, enduring the frigid (by SoCal standards) temperatures and worse... my bad jokes.

Test drove the ExplorerXT for my power source. Very satisfied with its performance! I recommend! It's about the same price as AB's Vagabond. I've never used Buff's porta-power gear so I can't compare. But the ExplorerXT (and its Aux Power battery) performed like a champ! Powered 2 Novatron monolights with no noticeable slow-down of recycle times. Fun shooting in a different style than my usual--slightly editorial-ish.

Jimmy,
Love the series. Color is terrific. Really like photographs with old trucks and beautiful women. My only complaint Jimmy is that you don't post often enough.

Like Hdvannur said, terrific color. No goosebumps that I can see.
Thanks for sharing.

I'll try to remedy that in the future. Thanks!

I normally love your stuff Jimmy always gives me a kick up the arse to go shot more, but I love everything but the model in these. I dont like the way she's looking down her nose in 1 and 3 and the way her arse is sticking out in the second makes it look huge and only the fact she's wearing panties saves it from being a cover for a adult dvd. Sorry mate, feel free to ignore everything I said.

Ghee!.....I'm not as hard as some of the other Posters, I think that they have come up just fine. What I find harder to believe, is that your Model (Jessica) endured the cold so well dressed only for the beach. Nicely done.

Cheers.

Saw this on your blog too...

I have one of the vagabond power packs and have been overall pretty happy with it. However, I haven't really used it toooo much. I've only had one occasion where (I'm pretty sure it was charged) it gave me an orange warning light and would not work. I've used it in cold Maine weather at night and once down here in the Texas heat and it's done well.

My main complaint is the recycle time it has and when it gets low it tends to recycle even slower (which I hear is typical for many of these systems). I don't like having to wait to be able to shoot again, especially if the model is really doing something magical and I can't capture that moment.

I really look forward to hearing/seeing your full review of this system!

I'm very impressed with the recycle times with the ExplorerXT, especially considering I was shooting with it powering 2 monolights.
